The Legacy That Started It All

Habana Cuba Restaurant has been delighting Bay Area locals and visitors for over 30 years. Originally founded by Don Ciro Calvo—former executive chef to President Batista of Cuba—the restaurant first opened in Japantown in 1994 as Cuban International. Later relocating to Race Street, it was in 2001 that owner and chef Jennifer Echeverri took the helm, carrying forward the tradition of authentic Cuban cuisine.
